Know what’s really ironic? Even with the screen caps and other documentation in this video, Easter Thompson, Lisa Medley, David Crosby, Alison Campbell, Kelly Gable, Jan Spence, Kirk Steffensen, Kemp Williams, and of course perjuring priest Bob Malm will continue to claim that Bob’s not a perjurer, that he didn’t try to push Mike out of the church, and more. Same for Susan Goff and the hypocrites at Mayo House, who have said that they will only exercise supervision over clergy if the latter face criminal charges.

Here’s another good one, allegedly from Lisa Gardner.

By way of background, Lisa’s father is a member of St. John’s, Hingham Massachusetts, where former Grace members Peter and Cheryl Barnes now are members. Lisa is friends with Bob and Leslie Malm and Lisa Medley—which right there speaks volumes.

Of course, Lisa’s lies are consistent with other conduct from Grace Church, including Bob Malm’s perjury. And there’s no sign that anyone at Grace Church objects to this behavior or repudiates it.

So if you are looking for a church, or you are applying for the rector position, just know that this sort of conduct is part and parcel of life at Grace Church. And the larger Episcopal Church. In fact, falsely accusing folks of domestic violence is nothing for folks at Grace Church — after all, it’s even okay to urge people to commit suicide and to falsely accuse them of embezzlement.

Lack of Introspection: Another Sign of Organizational Narcissism at Grace Episcopal Alexandria

I’ve written previously about organizational narcissism at Grace Church and the fact that, over time, churches inevitably take on the characteristics of their rector.  Today’s post is about a related topic, lack of introspection as a sign of organizational narcissism.

Often referred to as “destructive narcissism,” or “DM,” narcissism among leaders is characterized by outward self-assurance, an ability to charm superiors, a tendency to devalue others, a sense of entitlement, and a lack of values. Not surprisingly, the result typically is a toxic organizational culture, often marked by outwardly friendly interpersonal dynamics, but fraught with behind-the-scenes conflict and inappropriate responses to conflict. See, e.g. and A tendency to respond aggressively when criticized and to devalue others often leads observers to regard the organization and its leaders as abusive. Group members may be at risk of manipulation and low self-esteem.

All of these hold true for Grace Episcopal, the clergy perjury parish. Outwardly friendly and welcoming, behind the scenes toxic currents swirl. Indeed, one former assistant rector has noted the profound guilt that altar guild members feel if things are not perceived as absolutely perfect. Members often engage in manipulative conduct, including bullying and mobbing within the altar guild and choir. It is telling, too — the closer to worship one gets, the more toxic the culture at Grace,

But most telling is the lack of introspection. For example, in her responses to the two Wartburg Watch  articles about the church and its conflict with me, Lisa Medley, posting under the handle “Long-time parishioner” tried defending the church with a series of lies and ad hominem attacks. She saw nothing wrong with this, and evinced no ability to parse the underlying issue, which is that the church’s conduct is wrong.

Similarly, Sugarland Chiow still shows no recognition that his inflammatory rhetoric and multiple courtroom fabrications were in any way problematic. Instead, he clings to the notion that the end justifies the means.

Even now, the church is trying to defend its conduct in court, with Kelly Motormouth Gable asserting that her allegations that I embezzled are accurate. And yet I see no sign that she or others have taken me up on my invitation to put their money where their mouth is and file a complaint with the police. Kelly and others are good with behind-the-scenes fun and games, but they don’t have the integrity to follow-up in the light of day.

Of course, the response of many of those who read this article will remain true to form, with folks like David Crosby asserting that I am mentally ill and more, while never parsing their specifics of their behavior.

The result is that until the church is able to obtain some measure of introspection, it cannot hope to deal effectively with these issues.

Eric Bonetti v. Leslie Malm: Motions Court Set for August 26

Above is the notice from Leslie Malm’s attorney, Wayne Cyron, providing notice of motions court regarding Malm’s plea in bar of the statute of limitations. The matter is addressed by black letter law; Virginia statute specifically provides that an injunction, as was involved here, that prevents a lawsuit, results in tolling of the statute during the duration of the injunction.

Upheaval at Episcopal Men’s Group Underscores Depth of Problems at Grace Episcopal, the Diocese

Shock waves are rippling throughout Episcopal men’s group The Brotherhood of St. Andrew after three African-American board members resigned in protest over the organization’s response to recent racial incidents. But even as the group reels from the upheaval on its board, its efforts to regain its footing illustrate the utter ineptitude and lack of Christian ethics at Grace Episcopal and the Diocese of Virginia.

In reports by the Episcopal News Service, the organization’s three top leaders committed the Brotherhood to “a new phase of the journey of truth-telling, learning, listening and ultimately, with God’s help, reconciliation.”

That begs the issue: Why are Grace Church and the diocese still trying to defend the indefensible? Like Bob Malm’s perjury, folks at the church urging me to commit suicide, and the church’s defamation per se? Or trying to drag a dying woman into court that couldn’t even physically leave her home?

The answer is clear: The diocese and the parish are nothing but badly run businesses that have zero interest in actual Christian values.

Over time, will the Brotherhood find reconciliation and healing? Quite possibly, it will, if it is sincere and continues to strive to do what’s right. But Grace Episcopal and the diocese are neither sincere nor committed to doing what’s right, so the outcome is clear. Reconciliation and healing simply won’t happen.

Early next week, I will be filing an additional lawsuit against Grace Episcopal Church, the clergy perjury parish. The complaint addresses the parish’s defamatory statements, made through vestry and clergy, that I allegedly embezzled from a previous employer. The claim seeks both compensatory and punitive damages.

As a matter of professional courtesy, I have given a heads-up to the various attorneys representing perjuring priest Bob Malm and Grace Episcopal.

A copy of the complaint will be posted when I file.

Grace Again Posts Rector Position, Ignores Its Ongoing Misconduct

On July 27, Grace Episcopal Alexandria, the clergy perjury parish, again posted its rector job opening. The posting starts off with a flagrant lie, as it talks about the gospel imperative to love and serve Christ in all persons.

That ignores the fact that this is a church that has not repudiated its defamatory claims that I:
  1. Threatened it.
  2. Embezzled from a previous employer.
  3. Am, in the words of Sugarland Chiow, a domestic terrorist.
Nor has it repudiated, or told the truth, about perjuring priest Bob Malm’s various lies, including his fabrication that my mother or someone claiming to be her contacted him repeatedly to set up meetings, only to cancel.

Nor has it repudiated Lisa Medley’s lies, or the actions of a certain 20-something who urged me to commit suicide.

Nor has it repudiated its efforts to drag my mother, dying of COPD, into court.

Nor has it repudiated its efforts to force Mike out of the church, just 16 months after he joined.

In fact, the church still is trying to defend its actions in the five different lawsuits now under way against persons connected with the parish.

So, let me break it to folks at Grace Church: Until the parish and you take responsibility for your actions and tell the truth, you are NOT seeking to love and serve Christ in all persons.

Saying that you do is a bold-faced lie, and anyone considering applying for the rector position needs to know that they are inheriting this toxic mess, built on a foundation of lies.

For the record, I realize that’s how churches roll: Do whatever the hell they feel like doing, then say, “Well, we don’t do that any more,” or “We weren’t very nice,” or “Bob Malm is gone,” and expect the world to just say, “Okay, that’s great. We’re fine.”

But that is not how the world works. It’s not how Christianity is supposed to work.

That paradigm only works for narcissistic organizations.

PS Contrary to what the job announcement says, the school is NOT independent. Legally, it is the same entity, and vestry members and the rector have a fiduciary relationship to the school. Doubt it? Check out Sugarland Chiow’s settlement proposal, in which he purported to bind the school via nothing more than perjuring priest Bob Malm’s signature. True to form, the church wants to have things both ways: The school is independent when the notion suits, but fully part of the church when that notion is more convenient.

It’s not a promising sign when the search committee cannot even get basics like the relationship between the church and the school right.

More Legal News

I recently made the decision not to pursue the lawsuit against Grace Episcopal, the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, and Susan Goff.

My reasons are myriad and include strategic and tactical components. Because there are still five lawsuits under way, it’s not appropriate to go into all the reasons. But it is fair to note that the decision will allow me to more fully focus time and attention on the other cases.

Moreover, it’s fair to conclude that perjuring priest Bob Malm will attempt, like Kelly Motormouth Gable, to shelter from individual liability by claiming that he was acting within the scope of his employment as rector of Grace Episcopal, the clergy perjury parish. So it is not exactly like the parish gets a pass, and discovery, which will undoubtedly include various vestry members, current and previous clergy, church and school staff, and more, should prove interesting. Indeed, if the past is precursor to the future, we will see many more ugly skeletons emerge from the bowels of the church; one can always count on the good Christians of the parish for ugly gossip, speculation, and commentary. In fact, it would come as no surprise to discover additional fraudulent concealment on the part of the parish, Sugarland Chiow, and perjuring priest Bob Malm.

BREAKING NEWS: More Than 20,000 People Sign Perjuring Priest Petition

Exciting news. Moments ago my petition seeking a full, fair, and independent investigation into perjuring priest Bob Malm’s conduct passed 20,000 signatures.

To give you some context, the photo below represents a crowd of 20,000.

Even so, the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia continues to refuse demands for accountability, all while proclaiming its commitment to “respecting the dignity of every human being.”

If The Episcopal Church cannot address criminal conduct by clergy, why on earth would it think it can successfully address racial injustice?

Speaking of, Time for Bob Malm to Put His Money Where His Mouth Is

Speaking of Kelly Motormouth Gable and her defamatory email about how I allegedly embezzled from RPJ Housing, it’s also time for perjuring priest Bob Malm to grow up and put his money where his mouth is.

Specifically, Episcopalians are called to “resist injustice and oppression,” wherever they are encountered. So rather than spreading rumors and gossip to the willing ears of diocesan officials, why hasn’t perjuring priest Bob Malm filed criminal charges? As I stated in my post about Kelly Motormouth Gable there is no statute of limitations on felonies, with the latter defined as involving more than $500. So why would Bob Malm hesitate? It’s not like Bob has any scruples whatsoever when it comes to confrontations involving parishioners, even lying to police, the bishop, and his own parishioners.

Of course, there would be an added advantage to perjuring priest Bob Malm: he would presumably see an end to the multiple lawsuits against him. Plus Lisa Medley, Alison Campbell, and the rest of the good Christians of Grace would be besides themselves with Christian glee. So again: Why not?

So, it’s time for perjuring priest Bob Malm to belly up to the bar, put his money where his mouth is, and file criminal charges. If he’s willing to spread his defamatory statements to the bishop, he should be equally willing to go to the police.

As for Alison Campbell, Lisa Medley, Sugarland Chiow, and the myriad other fake Christians at Grace Church, same applies to you.

Go for it.

BREAKING: Hearing Concludes in Pennsylvania

I just left the hearing in PA, in which Judge Kirtland heard arguments regarding perjuring priest Bob Malm’s attempt to drag my mother, dying of COPD, into court.

Attorney Rachel Wenger represented Bob, and did not appear to be well-prepared. She offered no rebuttal to the black letter law in the case, which is that rule 1930.5 prohibits discovery in protection from abuse cases absent prior leave of court.

She also mischaracterized the Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery Act, or UIDDA. As enacted in Pennsylvania, the UIDDA expressly provides that Pennsylvania law controls when it comes to issuance of the Pennsylvania subpoena. That of course makes sense, for one cannot obtain greater rights in the deponent state merely by filing in a foreign jurisdiction, then domesticating a subpoena.

Judge Kirtland will mail a ruling to both parties within 5 days. Either side may appeal his ruling within 30 days to the court of common pleas.

KKK and Grace Episcopal Deploy Same Hate Against Protestors

CNN recently covered independent documentary filmmaker Rob Bliss, who protested outside KKK headquarters and produced a video from his experiences. And guess what? Many of the reactions he got from KKK members were the same as I get from Grace Episcopal Church members.

I know, big surprise.

In addition to the ol’ one-gun-salute-to-Jesus, of which there were many, among other things he got the same rhetoric as Sugarland Chiow and perjuring priest Bob Malm deploy when they want to suppress criticism. Specifically, he got called a “domestic terrorist.”

You’d think that Sugarland and perjuring priest Bob Malm could come up with something a little more erudite than ugly KKK rhetoric, wouldn’t you?

Just goes to show: Hate is hate, whether it’s the KKK, Grace Episcopal Church, or so-called Christians like Lisa Medley, Alison Campbell, and Kelly Gable. Or parishioners who urge me to commit suicide.

Clearly, the KKK and Grace Episcopal share a common characteristic: They respond with hate, ugly rhetoric, and lies when someone challenges their views.

BREAKING: Perjuring Priest Bob Malm Goes to Court on Monday

On Monday, perjuring priest Bob Malm gets to explain why he thought it was okay, in violation of state law, to try to drag a dying woman into court for depositions.

Keep in mind that, by that point, Mom was in palliative care, needed oxygen 24/7, was incontinent, unable to have speak for more than a few minutes, and suffering debilitating anxiety and panic attacks.

At issue is the fact that Pennsylvania does not permit discovery in protection from abuse cases absent prior leave of court. This is expressly established by statute set forth at  231 Pa. Code § 1930.5.

In the case of perjuring priest Bob Malm, he made no effort to obtain prior leave of court. Indeed, even after opposing counsel notified perjuring priest Bob Malm of the issue in court, perjuring priest Bob Malm continued to harangue the court, arguing that he had not had an opportunity to be heard, that its decision was unfair, and more. Meanwhile, the law is clear: No discovery absent prior leave of court. None.

Of course, there’s also the question of what kind of jackrabbit goes after a dying woman? Most people would think twice, and one imagines that a priest would have serious qualms. But not perjuring priest Bob Malm or Sugarland Chiow.

And that illustrates why it is so very important to share information about Grace Episcopal, the clergy perjury parish. In this toxic system, that sort of conduct is okay. To this day, I have yet to see any sign that anyone on the vestry had any objections. Nor did Susan Goff or Shannon Johnston.

So, before you get involved at Grace Church, the clergy perjury parish, this is how the church puts the baptismal covenant’s promise to respect the dignity of every living being into practice. In fact, it was shortly before this that Mom had to have one of her beloved little dogs put to sleep, which left her crying for days, painfully reminded of her own imminent death.

Now, on Monday, we will get to see perjuring priest Bob Malm — and by extension, Grace Episcopal  Alexandria — try to avoid accountability in the courts. And it is telling that one has to go to court to get perjuring priest Bob Malm or Grace Episcopal Alexandria to act with any sort of integrity.

Proof that Grace Episcopal is a sad, dysfunctional, toxic and dying church.

More on Perjuring Priest Bob Malm’s Failure to Comply With Pandemic Safety Laws, Guidelines

Having known perjuring priest Bob Malm for a number of years, I’m prepared to bet on his response to my allegations that he has disregarded diocesan and state requirements to ensure safety during the pandemic; perjuring priest Bob Malm likely told parishioners that he wasn’t aware. But that excuse doesn’t cut it.

Here is what the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts has to say on this topic:

“Clergy and lay leaders are to be well-informed about these directives.”

So why do we keep seeing St. Gabriel’s being one step behind the times when it comes to compliance? Accessing information is not exactly challenging. And these are life and death issues of safety for the very people who make up the church.

And again, why is perjuring priest Bob Malm not wearing a face mask? Isn’t he supposed to lead by example?

Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Rector Candidates: This Should Give You Pause

This screen cap, probably more so than any other, illustrates the toxic nature of Grace Church, the clergy perjury parish.

In it, a then college-aged parishioner who grew up in the church not only uses the homophobic handle. “Eat_A-Dick,” but urges me to commit suicide. Nor is this someone on the fringes of the church; both her parents have served on the vestry, and as wardens.

It is a sad state of affairs indeed when this is the result of a lifetime in the church. You need to know that this exemplifies how Grace parishioners live into the baptismal covenant, for if you are serious about your faith, this is what you will be dealing with during your tenure with the church.

Nor should you think that this is a one-off misstep and that folks are sorry for their mistakes. As it happens, the church is in court, even as we speak, defending six lawsuits against it and various persons connected with the church, and trying to claim that the conduct in question is defensible.

It’s not.

Grace Episcopal Alexandria, the Clergy Perjury Parish, Again Extends Deadline for Applications for Rector Position

Desperation is never pretty. It’s not pretty in dating. It’s not pretty when job hunting. And it isn’t pretty when it involves a church looking for a new rector. And so it is with Grace Episcopal, the clergy perjury parish, where signs increasingly suggest that folks are taking a pass on what should be an A-list gig, the rector position.

Yesterday, the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia updated its website to show that the search committee has extended the deadline to apply until August 10. That’s the second extension.

The decision to do so is telling, indeed damning.

By rights, Grace Church should be, to use Shannon Johnston’s phrase, a “flagship.” With a decent income, loyal members, a gorgeous nave, close proximity to National Airport, close to trendy Del Ray, a long history of inclusion, and friendly members, at first blush Grace is a highly attractive calling.

But folks seem increasingly attuned to what Bob Malm himself termed the “dirty underbelly” of Grace church. The mere fact that one has to go to court in order to deal with misconduct in the parish speaks volumes. 

Even more telling is the fact that the diocese refuses to provide adult supervision to perjuring priest Bob Malm, or to wade in and do the hard work needed to make peace with the past. Indeed, the fact that the diocese has said in writing that it won’t get involved unless perjuring priest Bob Malm faces criminal charges shows that the corruption and incompetence extend right to Susan Goff herself. And the toxic miasma of perjuring priest Bob Malm, Sugarland Chiow, Alison Campbell, Lisa Medley and others has permeated every facet of life at Grace Episcopal Alexandria, where the place is so screwed up that parishioners actually think it’s okay to lie about each other, to urge others to commit suicide, and in Kelly Gable’s case, to accuse others of criminal conduct.

To make matters worse, some issues are irreparable. There is no way to make peace with my mother, for example, now that she is dead. 

Indeed, even with perjuring priest Bob Malm gone for what soon will be a year, Grace Church’s reputation is getting worse, not better. One has only to look at its efforts to defend its actions in court to see that no one at Grace is interested in changing. Instead, they are interested in justifying their conduct and continuing in exactly the same vein as always.

And the current litigation has provided myriad examples of profoundly ugly conduct within the parish—enough that even the most generous cannot avoid the conclusion that there are real problems at the church.

Now, with the parish again pushing back its already extended deadline for applying for the position of rector, the place is starting to smell of desperation. That’s really bad news for the church, and much like stealing from the Mafia, it’s likely to attract attention of all the wrong sort. In fact, that awful smell isn’t just desperation — it’s the stench of rot and corruption. Just like Jesus’ whitewashed tombs, the place is pretty on the exterior, but filled with death and decay on the inside.

The reality is this: No rector worth her salt is going to be willing to come in and muck out the filth that perjuring priest Bob Malm left behind. That’s especially true when, as here, the diocese has washed its hands of the matter. Thus, Grace needs to consider the possibility that the best it can do is to get in long-term supply clergy, possibly David Crosby or another member of the “Bobby Malm, You’re Amazing,” fan boys.

But however the rector search plays out, of this you can be certain: I am not backing down. Anyone who bullies Mike or my Mom has me to contend with, and I am tenacious.

Kelly Gable: Time to Put Her Money Where Her Mouth Is

Since Kelly Gable likes to run her mouth behind the scenes, now seems to be a good time to invite her to deal openly with issues. Specifically, I encourage her to put her money where her mouth is and take her claims that I embezzled from RPJ Housing directly to law enforcement. That’s right: Time for Kelly to put up or shut up.

Keep in mind that there’s no statute of limitations for felonies in Virginia. So, unless Kelly is claiming that I purloined paper clips or stole stamps, that’s presumably what she is talking about, a felony. Moreover, the threshold to qualify as a felony in Virginia is $500. Thus, there’s no reason not to act. Today. Here. Right now. Time to quit talking and start acting. And boy, wouldn’t Alison Campbell and the other good Christian ladies of the altar guild love to see a conviction? And Lisa Medley would be beside herself with Christian glee. So I cannot think of any reason from Kelly’s perspective NOT to put her money where her mouth is.

Moreover, as assistant executive director of RPJ Housing, Kelly had a fiduciary duty to the organization, as well as to its lenders. So it’s puzzling that she didn’t act while still employed by the organization.

That said, this is Kelly’s chance to make the world a better place, lock up someone she claims is a criminal, and deal openly with things versus triangulation and gossip.

With that in mind, below is my email to Wayne Cyron, who is attorney for her, Bob and his family. While as a matter of professional courtesy I don’t generally post correspondence from legal counsel, this screen cap does not include prior conversation with opposing counsel.

Bonetti v. Gable: Motion for Reconsideration

In a decision released earlier today, the Fairfax County Circuit Court granted Kelly Motormouth Gable’s plea in bar, in which she invoked the one-year statute of limitations, thus dismissing the case. I have filed a motion for reconsideration and may file an appeal.

Settlement Offer

Did you know that in 2016 I offered to settle my conflict with perjuring priest Bob Malm?

I did so in writing through attorney Matt Kaplan, who drafted the letter that follows. In it, we ask for three things from perjuring priest Bob Malm:
  1. Stop disparaging us.
  2. Stop interfering with the practice of our faith.
  3. Confidentiality.
Through Sugarland Chiow, perjuring priest Bob Malm refused all three requests, resulting in today’s state of affairs: An ongoing, public dispute, winding its way through the courts.

True to form, perjuring priest Bob Malm ultimately came to regret his decision, leading to his facially deceptive efforts to obtain a protective order by claiming he had been threatened. The end result, of course, was a profound escalation of the dispute that included lawsuits against Leslie Malm and Lindsey Malm Anders.

So, perjuring priest Bob Malm is not only a liar, but it was through his own mean-spirited stupidity that he got himself into the present situation. In other words, he got exactly what he asked for.

Rector Search Committee Appears to Extend Cut-Off Date

There was a recent change to the rector search process at Grace, and while it’s a small one, it suggests that the search is not exactly going well.

Specifically, the committee quietly pushed the cut-off date back from the 27th through the 31st. It makes sense to do so, for closing things prior to the end of the month doesn’t accomplish much, particularly when much of the country is on vacation, lockdown, or both.

That said, no amount of tactical maneuvering is going to offset the larger reality, which is that the church and diocese still have done nothing to make peace with the church’s dismal past. Indeed, the Kelly Gables of the place are hard at it, trying to defend conduct that simply is indefensible.

Of course, relocating during a pandemic also will be difficult. After all, who wants every item in their household handled by strangers?

Welcome to Sugarland! Grace Episcopal Alexandria Rector Search Process Faces Challenges

You have to hand it to perjuring priest Bob Malm, Sugarland Chiow, and to a lesser extent Kelly Motormouth Gable — they have really done a number on Grace Episcopal Church and the search for a new rector.

Consider two possibilities:

First Possibility:

Mere use of the word “murder” in a blog, etc., truly is a threat and not protected speech under the First Amendment. In other words, welcome to Sugarland!

In that case, we can look to Sugarland Chiow’s pleadings filed in the Venango Coubty courts, in which he says, “This is a case of domestic terrorism.” We can give context to this claim through his filings in the Alexandria Courts, in which he claims that I, “surely am dangerous.” How did we know that? According to Sugarland, it is by virtue of withdrawing my appeal. Thus, according to Sugarland’s reasoning, it’s appropriate to impose sanctions, for  as we well know, that is the best way to deal with dangerous people.

That begs the question: If I am a candidate for rector, do I want to serve a church that claims to be threatened by domestic terrorists? Unless I am totally cray-cray, the answer likely is no. That’s doubly the case if I have a family, and I’ll surely think twice when I realize just how expensive Northern VA is.

Second Possibility:

Why drink the KoolAid when you can swill the Sugarland Shine?
The second possibility is that Grace’s pleadings are not true. Thus, Grace faces potential legal liability, as well as the ethical and spiritual challenges posed by a priest who commits perjury, a vestry that supports his efforts, and parish leaders like Sugarland Chiow who aid and abet his efforts. Not to mention the ugly, inflammatory rhetoric coming out of the parish, including Sugarland’s court pleadings, Lisa Medley’s multiple lies and disclosure of confidential giving, and comments from someone, most likely Lucy Medley, urging me to commit suicide. In other words, welcome to Sugarland!

Wow. If this is the case, we’re talking about a profoundly toxic church. As Jesus said, “by their fruits you shall know them,” and this is one ugly, stinkin’ crock of goo. In fact, clergy who love God, love their neighbor, and haven’t lost their sense of smell due to COVID-19 can smell it ten miles away, twenty if they are downwind.

Rector candidates thus face the challenge not only of living in this environment, but also trying to fix it. Both are herculean tasks, especially after 30 years of Bob Malm. All I can say is yikes.

Of course, the possibility also exists that the parish will pull down another narcissist.  She, or more likely he, will come replete with a stellar resume, good looks (they are nothing if not well groomed), a carefully crafted image, athleticism (gotta look good on all fronts), tremendous verbal faculty, and an amazing ability to tell people what they want to hear. And Grace is, on its face, an target for another narcissist, for he or she will readily recognize that the church is a narcissistic organization, onto which they can attach themselves in record time. When he does, the narcissist will paper things over with earnest-sounding apologies, lots of hugs and smiles, the word “love” bouncing around in all directions, and more. But there will be no meaningful resolution, and Grace will have another layer of glitter affixed to its toxic infrastructure.

This is highly likely. While Mary Hix is, I think, wise enough to spot this issue, I don’t know that anyone else on the search committee is, with the possible exception of Tracy Enger.

That said, this presents a dilemma all its own for the narcissist: Should I run the risk of dealing with the six lawsuits now under way and the potential personal liability that attaches, or move on to easier pickings? My guess is most will consider this to be too much work to be worth the trouble, for narcissists are famous for underperforming at their jobs, while telling themselves and others that they are great.

That said, if Grace does pull down another narcissistic rector, things will get ugly in a hurry. Narcissists are invariably toxic, and they build narcissistic constructs around them. Given how far Grace Episcopal Alexandria, the clergy perjury parish, already is along that curve, if that does happen, Grace is a goner. Done. Kaput. No mas. Au revoir.

And a third possibility:

Of course there is a third potential outcome, which reflects the fact that many clergy are conflict avoidant. Specifically, many qualified candidates won’t want to parse these issues, but instead take a pass and move on. Given that TEC often follows the path of least resistance, that is a likely outcome, but one that will only become apparent over time as it becomes clear that B-list candidates are applying for what should be an A-list calling.

There’s also the possibility that candidates for rector take a preliminary look at applying, but quickly self-select and join this category, simply by asking, “What have you done to resolve this conflict?” Any sort of meaningful questioning will quickly reveal that, other than the token effort to slap some lipstick on this pig at the Fredericksburg meeting, the answer is nothing. And at this point we are no longer in a position to negotiate, for I have seen the middle finger from the good Christians of Grace Church far too often to be willing to talk to them, and have invoked my right under state law to have no contact from members of the church.

Moreover, klaxons will be sounding in all directions when candidates realize that the diocesan posture on these issues is one of no-criminal-charges-no-foul. That reveals just how toxic and broken things are, and it goes all the way to Bishop Goff herself. And it’s not like she hasn’t heard directly from me on these matters; she has many times, and instead sits in splendid silence in that fusty old antebellum heap, Mayo House.

And like any narcissistic organization, the denizens of Grace Episcopal Alexandria, the clergy perjury parish, will never concede the possibility that the organization suffers from narcissism. Indeed, it will all be the fault of that crazed former member, Eric Bonetti, who resigned from the church and then started harassing us. You know the drill, and Lisa Medley is happy to help you rehearse. If she’s not around, hit up Alison Campbell or Kelly Motormouth Gable. In fact, let’s grab a few drinks and talk about it.

Not matter how things turn out, thanks to perjuring priest Bob Malm, Sugarland Chiow, and now Motormouth Gable, things are not pointed in a good direction for Grace Church.

Perjuring Priest Bob Malm Repeatedly Violates Massachusetts State Health Laws During Pandemic

Somehow, I have the funny feeling that perjuring priest Bob Malm has been at it again. Specifically, I am told that St. Gabriel’s, the church where Bob serves as interim, decided at the 11th hour not to transition to Phase 2 of the diocesan reopening plan.

Here’s what the church’s website says:

Note the whole bit about “information we didn’t have” and about informing the media “as you think best.” Hmmm. Sounds to me like what really happened is that the diocese said no to the reopening plan, possibly because it was non-compliant with state and diocesan policy.

And while there may or may not be more to this story, one thing is clear, which is that perjuring priest Bob Malm routinely violates the law when leading services. Specifically, he doesn’t wear a face covering. But even more disturbing is the utter lack of leadership perjuring priest Bob Malm evinces as interim rector when he refuses to take basic measures to protect his own health, and that of others.

Let’s start by taking a look at the health and safety guidelines issued by the diocese for Phase 1, which were promulgated May 18 and formed the foundation for moving to Phase 2. Of relevance is the highlighted section, which allows only a cantor or soloist, provided he or she is at least 20 feet from others and in a well-ventilated area.

While one can debate whether the nave at St. Gabriel’s is well-ventilated, there’s no doubt that the parish is not compliant on other fronts.

Below is a screen cap from the May 26 service. Yup, that’s a choir, and while there’s more attention to safety than the early days of the pandemic—including the wearing of face coverings — the service features a small choir, less than 20 feet distancing (but not standing right next to each other, as was the case at first), and myriad other issues.

Eventually on June 14, we see the move to a soloist, but even then the distance is well inside of 20 feet.

Now let’s shift to a related issue, which is the Massachusetts Department of Health requirements during Phase 1, with reference to the highlighted area. You’ll see that it requires all staff and clergy to wear a face mask or covering while participating in worship. That’s right, all. No exceptions because clergy feel warm, think they sound funny when talking, think it looks goofy, believe they’re special, or any other reasons.

The face mask requirement loosens a little bit for clergy in Phase 2, but only while actively leading the service.

Meanwhile, as a workplace safety matter, Massachusetts requires all employers eligible to open in Phases 1, 2, and 3 to require face masks of all employees. Here’s the screen cap, with the face mask requirement located on the upper right.

Additionally, Plymouth County, in which St Gabriel’s is located, requires face coverings in all “essential” businesses. While the measure does not specifically reference churches, it is broadly worded and has an “included but not limited to,” clause. Moreover, businesses are required to implement signage at their entrances, per below:

Now, let’s take a look at perjuring priest Bob Malm’s response to these requirements. Or, to phrase it in another way, how Bob is leading by example. Or not.

Yup, no face covering, and perjuring priest Bob Malm is contaminating furniture, AV equipment, albs, stoles, lecterns, prayer books, altar linens and more by wiping his snotty nose, then handling other items without washing his hands or using sanitizer.

That begs the question: While perjuring priest Bob Malm may choose to be indifferent to his own welfare, or that of his wife and family, how can he stand in front of St. Gabriel’s, whether in person or via Vimeo, and display such a profound lack of concern for the welfare of others? Even as he babbles on about love? How does this exemplify leadership? Nor are these minor issues; they involve the potential for tremendous human suffering and loss. And if perjuring priest Bob Malm doesn’t follow the law, why should anyone else? (Not that I am encouraging anyone to disobey the law.)

Consider: Even Donald Trump, long the purveyor of conspiracy theories and weird claims that COVID-19 would go away on its own, has started wearing a face covering. True, it’s not out of concern for others, but rather because he fears losing the election. Even so, the point is valid: What does it say about Bob Malm when he doesn’t use a face covering, but Donald Trump does? Is Bob Malm really that special?

For the record, even when social distancing is possible — and many infectious disease experts believe 6 feet is not adequate — wearing a face mask reduces the both the risk of direct transmission as well as transmission via fomites, or inanimate surfaces that become contaminated. And keep in mind that singing, even with one person, is considered a high risk event.

On the other hand, keeping your snotty handkerchief in your back pocket, dabbing at your face, and touching other surfaces afterwards without using hand sanitizer or washing is a recipe for disaster. And given that perjuring priest Bob Malm is 68, he is high risk, as is his wife Leslie. And it’s especially troubling when in close proximity to the altar and other high-touch surfaces. (It’s worth noting that the state recommends that lecterns and other high-risk surfaces be protected with plexiglass shields, plastic, or other barriers.)

Bottom line, if your rector won’t comply with state law amidst the pandemic, or the commandment to love thy neighbor as thyself, or even just show enough respect for you to cover his face, you need to find a new rector. Pronto. And while you’re at it, you probably should ask some tough questions about the church and the diocese. It’s called lack of adult supervision.

COVID-19 is deadly serious. Don’t play games with your safety and that of others. And don’t tolerate anyone who does, especially when, as here, you are paying him and trusting him with both your spiritual and physical wellbeing.

No News To Report

Grace Episcopal Alexandria

Still no ruling from the Fairfax Circuit Court. Not a huge surprise there, as the judge had warned us a decision could come as late as Monday due to a full docket. I’m cautiously optimistic that I will prevail on Kelly Gable’s plea of the statute of limitations, for she seeks to benefit from the misconduct of the very church for which she served on the vestry. Specifically, Grace Church, the clergy perjury parish, had a legal obligation to produce the document in question. Given that a quick email to the diocese or to vestry members would have elicited the email in question, it’s difficult to conclude that the church acted in good faith. That said, like most lawyers I am risk averse, so I’m preparing my motion for reconsideration and my appeal, even as we speak. That way, if Kelly does prevail on the motion, I’ll be able to quickly respond.

Still Waiting....

We’re still waiting for a decision from the Fairfax Circuit Court on today’s motion, which touched on venue in the Malm case and the statute of limitations in the Gable case.

In the meantime, here is my filing in opposition to Kelly’s plea of the statute of limitations.

Check it Out: Pleadings from Alexandria Circuit Court

Here are my pleadings filed in the Alexandria Circuit Court, shortly before I removed the case to Circuit Court and increased the amount of relief requested. The latter reflects the inclusion of the defamation per se claim relating to Kelly Motormouth Gable and perjuring priest Bob Malm’s republication.

Tomorrow is motions court in Fairfax, which will be held via WebEx. At issue will be venue for two of the cases involving Grace Church.

In the case of Kelly Gable’s defamation, I have told defense counsel that I don’t have an objection to venue in Alexandria.

Of course, defense counsel also has filed a plea in bar raising the stature of limitations.  On that score, I have told the courts that the issue is a matter of black letter law. Specifically, when a defendant has concealed a cause of evidence, the statute of limitations is tolled by the express provisions of the relevant statute. In the instant case, Sugarland Chiow, perjuring priest Bob Malm, and the church had an obligation to produce the email in question, as it was squarely within the purview of discovery, Given that they clearly attempted to conceal other evidence potentially damaging to their case (including Jeff Aaron’s email in which he discussed potential retaliation against me for complaining to the diocese about Bob’s conduct), I have no doubt that they intentionally did so in this case.

Equally significant is the fact that Kelly stood in privity to the defendants. She was not an innocent bystander, but instead a vestry member who benefitted from Sugarland’s misconduct. It therefore is inappropriate that Kelly be permitted to benefit from this misconduct.

On the matter of venue in the case against perjuring priest Bob Malm, I am opposing transfer. Bob is no longer a resident of Alexandria, so he cannot be said to be inconvenienced. Moreover, multiple aspects of the case arose in Fairfax, including Bob’s efforts to engage in tortious interference with my contract of employment at a church in Fairfax County. Similarly, Fairfax County intervened in my favor after perjuring priest Bob Malm tortiously interfered with our memorial donations to the church. At best, this constituted breach of contract. At worst, it was fraud. And I can produce evidence at trial that this was done at the express direction of perjuring priest Bob Malm.

Below is my email to the law clerk working on the case, as well as my exhibits.

As a follow-up to my previous post about former Grace head of school Chris Byrnes showing up as alleged interim head of school at St. Paul’s Alexandria, I have posted an article on my flagship, Anglican Watch.

As things stand, St. Paul’s appears headed for serious financial issues, compounded by poor staffing choices and a lack of even basic good governance, including financial transparency and reporting. Additionally, Chris seems poised to engage in many of the same behaviors that were problematic at Grace Church, including manipulation, triangulation, and empire building.

Here’s hoping that folks at St. Paul’s take the challenges they face seriously as we all struggle to make it in the midst of the pandemic.

For the record, as of press time the church had not responded to my request for comment. I presume it would have been quick to do so had it had good news to report.

As readers may recall, my calculations show that the cost to Grace Church of buying the Pampered Prince of Perjury Bob Malm a personal residence exceeded $1.2 million. This included destruction of the existing rectory, which did not meet the exacting standards Bob established for a residence for His Holiness. Keep in mind that this figure included the $100,000 bonus the church paid perjuring priest Bob Malm in 2014 so he wouldn’t be upside down in his loan. That at a time when church financials were a shambles, there was a hoarder as parish administrator, and the church faced the near-term need to spend more than $1 million to keep the HVAC on in the complex.

So, as we approach the 2020 pledge season, it’s a great time to take a renewed look at that transaction. Specifically, what did that money get Grace Church?

A quick look at some recent photos of Perjury Place, the former residence of His Holiness, the Pampered Prince of Perjury, speaks volumes. As I predicted, deferred maintenance on the home left the place in tear-down condition, while the massive cracks in the foundation and other settling — not uncommon in hillside homes — spelled future problems.

Ironically, one of the few things that remain are the outside hand railings I installed following perjuring priest Bob Malm’s 2014 accident. In order to make that happen, I personally guaranteed payment on the project, since the vestry wanted to get involved, which would have delayed the matter interminably at a time where this was an urgent need. Moreover, given perjuring priest Bob Malm’s propensity for private schools, cosmetic procedures, dining out, and month-long trips to the beach every year, there was concern on multiple fronts that perjuring priest Bob Malm would not be good for the funds. (That proved not to be the case, thanks to the more than $24,000 purse the church took up for perjuring priest Bob Malm following his accident.)

All I can say is that any church that can pay a $100,000 bonus to a priest who can’t even be bothered to ensure that financial reports are accurate obviously has more money than it needs. It surely doesn’t need your funds, and I doubt it would take mine. So do yourself a favor amidst the pandemic and save your money. Heaven knows it’s going to be a rough fall when the annual influenza season ramps up and adds to the misery and suffering of a surging COVID-19 pandemic.
